Our Favorite Hotels in Downtown Seattle
If you are visiting Seattle, where you stay can really elevate your trip. Since the rainy weather brings about a decent amount of time indoors you want to stay in one of the best hotels in Downtown Seattle with a perfect view.
This way you get to take in the city, from the warmth of indoors. You also want to be near the best spots so you don't have to travel far in the wind and rain.
We're not experts per se but Seattle is one of our favorite PNW destinations. We love the grey of the sky, the skyrises by the water, and the green of the trees.
Since we love it so much we have gone almost every year and try to check out a new hotel each time. Sometimes we go big and go for the upgrades but other times we keep it simple and still love our time there.
Here are our top five hotels in Seattle, all of which we have experienced first hand and are located downtown. We love them all because each one brings something different.
We'll leave it up to you to pick your favorite. The good news is no matter which hotel you go with, you'll still have a great time on your Seattle getaway.

Kimpton Alexis Hotel
If we absolutely HAD TO pick a favorite downtown Seattle hotel it would be the Alexis Hotel which is a part of the Kimpton brand. The main reason why it's our fav...we stayed here on our honeymoon after eloping in Canada.
We also came back and stayed here again on our 5-year anniversary. Heck, we should probably go again on our 10-year anniversary and just make it an official Schaub tradition.
But aside from the emotional connection, it would still be on our list of top Seattle hotels. Why?...because it's super cool and unique.
The rooms are unlike any other hotel we have stayed in and we have stayed in a lot of hotels throughout the years. The rooms almost feel more like a cool modern apartment instead of a hotel.
Their basic rooms are more legit than a lot of suites and then if you splurge for one of their suites...oh my goodness. This place is stunning!
We also have to give a little shoutout to their customer service. They are always hospitable and make everyone feel like a VIP.
The Maxwell Hotel
If you want a cheaper downtown Seattle hotel that's still nice, the Maxwell Hotel is a really good option. It's a Staypineapple hotel (which we love) and is located by the space needle.
We stayed here on Thanksgiving and it was the perfect way to travel during the holidays. They went out of their way to help us find dining options and the cute decorations were perfect.
The rooms are quaint and the fluffy European style blankets help you fall right to sleep. Of course, since it's a Staypineapple chain there are plenty of cute pineapple decorations.
We suggest getting a room with a space needle view which is still a good price for a Seattle hotel.
Loews Hotel 1000
If you are going for a more luxurious travel experience then you should consider Hotel 1000. It's FANCY, to say the least, and maybe the best luxury hotel in Seattle.
We went big and upgraded to a corner suite and HOLY MOLY. Honestly, we don't even know where to start.
This is a pricier option but if you want to go big then this is how you go big. They treat you like royalty and wouldn't even let us use the luggage cart because it was "their treat".
Our room had a great water view with the Seattle skyline. Oh, and did we mention our gigantic bathtub with the faucet coming FROM THE CEILING?!
We can only use caps lock so much to get our point across that this hotel is the ultimate "treat yo self" experience.
Motif
We love Hyatts, it's the main hotel chain where we have status because it's our go-to for a lot of vacations. Since we love Hyatts and we love Seattle what could be better than when you put the two together and create the Motif hotel.
***As a side note, since we stayed there Motiff has changed ownership and is no longer a Hyatt Hotel. The hotel is still there just now a Hilton property***
One thing we love about Motif is that you get the luxury experience but for a cheaper price. You still get great customer service and Seattle views but without breaking the bank.
We upgraded to a corner suite and it was perfect. There was even a kitchen table literally looking out on the water.
We stayed here after Kelsey had a pretty stressful job assignment. So she pretty much never left the room (except for Starbucks and a croissant) but it still felt like the perfect Seattle getaway.
Hotel Five
Apparently, we love Staypinapple enough to put not one...but two of their hotels on this list. We love Hotel Five because the price is great for downtown Seattle but it's also near the action of Pike Place Market.
The rooms are smaller than some of the other options but they make great use of the space. Plus the modern decorations make you feel like a hipster living in the city.
Again like their other Staypineapple hotels, you get pineapple decorations, a comfy blanket, and did we mention a cute little stuffed animal puppy to borrow during your stay.
Hyatt Regency Seattle
The Hyatt Regency is kind of like the new guy in town. Since it's newly built, the design is modern and it has a "big hotel" feel to it.
The best part of this choice is the Seattle skyline views. The building is a perfect combination of a giant skyrise and large windows perfect for looking out onto the city.
Their website claims it's the largest hotel in the Pacific Northwest and we believe it. It's hard to put into words how massive and open everything is.
The hotel offers a lot of perks like a club lounge for certain guests, fancy restaurants, and other random high-end hotel perks. Plus the location is perfect being only a 10-15 minute walk to both Pikes and the Space Needle.
Finding the Right Seattle Hotel For You
When it comes to deciding where to stay while visiting Seattle, location is the most important. All of these hotels put you near the Seattle travel "fan favorites" so you'll be able to get plenty of time exploring the city.
To make your final decision, it all just depends on what you're looking for in your vacation and going from there. If you really want to go all out, make Seattle a yearly destination spot and try them all.
All of these downtown Seattle hotels are Schaub approved and we think that they are all great options. If you have a favorite not on the list let us know so we can check it out...we're always looking for another excuse to visit Seattle.
