How to Spend a Perfect Day in El Paso

Spending a perfect day in El Paso, Texas based on our adventures.

We decided to check out El Paso, Texas for a weekend getaway while living in Tucson. We ended up having the perfect chill weekend but still got a little taste of the El Paso culture.

El Paso is a great way to experience a mix of Texan and Hispanic cultures mixed perfectly together. Next time we find ourselves in El Paso we will spend more time exploring this fun city.

Where to Stay

Airbnb

We have often found that the best way to enjoy a city is to live like a local. Airbnb lets you enjoy your vacation while feeling like a permanent resident. It is oftentimes cheaper for a lot more space.

Phil found us a cute little house that slept more than we needed but it was perfect. Being able to eat at a kitchen counter or napping on the couch made for a very relaxing getaway.

Where to Eat

Anson11

If you only go to one restaurant in El Paso this is the restaurant to check out. That's how we did it and were very happy with our choices. It's one of the more well-known restaurants in the city.

They have a fancy upstairs which seems to be rented out for more private events. The downstairs is where they offer their typically restaurant seating.

We loved the food but the drinks may have been the best part. They have several signature cocktails all unique and amazing. Kelsey got a cucumber martini which was refreshing and delicious.

Insomnia Cookies

Insomnia Cookies can be found in several cites all around the USA and is always a great place to check out. The best part is the incredible hours being open later than any cookie store or bakery we have ever found. The cookies are also delicious and you can take home an entire box.

What to Do

Walk Around the City

We have always found the best part about visiting a new city is being able to explore on foot. This way you get some exercise while sightseeing. El Paso has a lot of cool-looking older buildings and plenty of little stores to choose from.

Walk Across the Border

Being in a border town has a lot of advantages with the main one being able to literally walk across the border. It's like being in two major towns walking distance apart. There is also a lot of touristy items once you cross over that are fun to check out.

Las Cruces

Hiking in Las CrucesLas Cruces is a smaller city across the New Mexico Border. It offers a similar experience to El Paso but with fewer crowds.

Since it's only a 30-minute drive, heading over to Las Cruces is an easy way to visits another city and state during your El Paso vacation. You might as well check it our one afternoon.
