Drifter’s Paradise Campground
We stayed at Drifter's Paradise Campground for two months and loved the price of it and the location. The amenities could use some updating and the location is not ideal for quick travel but if you are passing through, it’s definitely worthwhile to get a spot right on the Ohio River.

Location: 3/5
The location of the park itself is not the most easily accessible location as it is not on the main highway and either way you come to it requires at least a couple miles off the highway on windy roads. In our tiny home, this wasn’t a problem but if you have a bigger rig it could be narrow for you. The park is located in Dover, KY which is a very small town and you really won’t find anything of note there. The closest towns are Ripley, OH just across the bridge or Maysville, KY on the same side of the river. Both towns are within 20 minutes of the campground and offer the normal amenities you would find in a bigger town like Walmart, restaurants, gyms (which we use for showering) and small-town shopping.
As for the location of the park itself, it is really nice being right on the water. That’s a big plus for this park even though you can be very exposed to the elements out there (we had to do most of our waterproofing at this point). It can be beautiful being able to walk out your door and be steps away from the river on a clear sunny day though.
Amenities: 2/5
This is the area where this park could definitely improve upon. They do have a bar and grill on the premises which seemed nice enough but was only open during the summer and unfortunately we were there during the winter so we didn’t get to visit. They do have a shower in the bathroom and a working bathroom. The bathroom, however, is not able to handle toilet paper in the septic system so you had to put it in a wastebasket in the bathroom instead of flushing it. For a short time, this wasn’t the worst thing in the world but overall, that's a pretty gross way to handle the bathroom situation.
The park is right by the water so it's possible to do right down to the water which makes it very scenic. They did have working wifi which worked pretty well at our site which was right by the clubhouse. Some sites did not have sewer hookups and instead had two areas in the park to dump sewage if you needed to. We were able to use our portable sewage tank for our runoff from our sink but if you are living there longer you will want a spot with a sewage hookup.
There is some potential there with the amenities they do have including showers, river access, and a bar and grill. Overall, the lack of fully operational amenities in the bathroom and limited sewage hookups brought this park down a bit.
Price: 5/5
You can’t beat the price. That’s just a fact. We paid $175 for a month here. That’s amazing. Living there for a full year would only cost you about $2,100. The area isn't the best but it's tough to beat paying less than we pay for our loans IN A MONTH! Our campsite wasn't right on the river but we were less than 50 ft from the shore. The price for a shoreline monthly rental isn’t outlandish either at $210 per month.
Their daily rate is $30 and the weekly rate is $140 for either offshore or shoreline spots. They also have a seasonal option for $925-1025 total for 6 months during their busy season (Summer). That’s a very low price that you really can't beat.
Spaces: 4/5
The spaces themselves we discussed a bit above but they do come with 30A hookups and water. Some of the spaces might have sewer hookups but ours did not so it can be hit or miss. The spaces were all either gravel or grass but overall pretty level. We got a decent amount of rain while we were staying there and the trailer did not sink so the ground is pretty firm overall.
The spaces are pretty sizable with a decent amount of separation between you and your neighbor. There are 60 spaces overall and most are pull-through spaces. The spaces down by the water which is all back-in spaces.

Overall, Drifter's Paradise Campground was a great park for the price. We could have stayed here longer had we not been traveling overseas to Cook Islands. The price made it easy to live there even if the location wasn’t ideal and the amenities were lacking. If we pass through the area again and have time to spare, we might stop by and enjoy the river view again.
