De Anza RV Resort
We lived in De Anza RV Resort for seven months while on a travel PT job assignment and it was one of our favorites. It has a lot to offer and we had a lot of fun taking advantage of all the amenities.
De Anza RV Resort is in Amado, Arizona, about 30 minutes south of Tucson. The location leaves something to be desired but everything else at the resort makes up for it.

Overall: 4/5
We stayed there all summer and while we did survive, we have to warn you it gets hot. Like 100+ degrees hot. You'll want to make sure you come prepared with an AC capable RV or else you will be roasting. Or better yet, visit in the winter like all the other snowbirds.
Just be prepared to pay more and be around more people if you can find a spot there in the wintertime. We felt for our situation it was perfect.
Location: 2.5/5
The physical address for the city is De Anze RV Resort Amado, Arizona. Some also consider it to be part of Green Valley, Arizona.
As we said, Amado is not the hippest place we have ever been to. There are maybe one or two restaurants in Amado and Tucson is about 30 minutes north of the park.
There are some amenities in nearby Green Valley and Sahuarita with grocery stores and restaurants around. You also are a short 20-30 minute drive to the Mexican border in Nogales, Arizona so you can experience the awesome experience that Mexico has to offer you.
Amenities: 5/5
We don’t think we have been to a park with more amenities. Here is a full list of what they have:
- RV Storage
- Pool
- Hot tub
- Pool room
- Cardroom
- Basketball hoop
- Workout room
- Game room
- Bathroom/showers
- Shuffleboard
- Darts
- Community room
- TV Room
- Laundry
- Restaurant
That’s quite a list! A couple of things to note about it. There are only 2-3 toilets for each gender and 3 showers so when the weather gets nicer and more people keep coming in it starts to get pretty busy in the bathroom.
Everything on that list is open all year except for the restaurant which is open from October to May, Thursday through Sunday. They do a good job of having a changing menu and while the service can be hit or miss, they generally are trying hard and the food is good.
In the summer, the workout room and basketball hoop are covered but are not air-conditioned so they get hot but they aren’t exposed to the sun all day. The pool is a great way to cool off during the summer and gets downright chilly later in the year.
Price: 4.5/5
We have only had one place with a lower price than De Anza at Drifter's Paradise Campground. We paid $400 for offseason from May to September and $500 for October and November.
December through March is a little more expensive at $725-875 (depending on whether its a pull-through spot or not) but even at that price, you get good value. Those are the monthly prices, the daily and weekly prices are not quite as valuable but they still aren’t too bad.
One other thing to note about their prices, they offer annual leases as well. You have to sign on for 3 years minimum and those prices range between about $3,200-3,800 per year. If you plan on spending more than 4 peak season months or 8 total months of the year at the park this is a tremendous value so it is something to consider.
Spaces: 4/5
These spaces are well kept with gravel and stones making up the surface for each of them. They are generally pretty flat and they have a good mix of back in spots and pull through.
They also have their spaces elevated a little over the asphalt as they are prone to flooding so this helps with avoiding any problems. There is a decent amount of space between each space but when it gets busy you definitely feel like you have neighbors as there are very few trees or shrubbery between spaces.
Overall: 4/5
The only thing holding this park back from a perfect 5/5 rating is the location. The amenities are out of this world and the spaces and prices are pretty good overall but the location isn’t perfect.
It is close to Tucson and Mexico giving you something to do but you always have to go somewhere to get those benefits. Still, if you are in the area, especially in the summer when there are limited people around, this is a great park to spend a week or two at while you explore the surrounding area.
